It’s that time of year again – the Autumnal Equinox is coming as we say goodbye to summer and welcome the return of fall.
If you like hot and sunny weather then this was the summer for you, but along with cooler temperatures the fall season will be quickly bringing some other changes.
“The arc of the sun is shifting toward the south, and of course cooler air moving in, especially for the overnight lows,” said meteorologist Jill Taylor.
So while the leaves will be turning brown, yellow, red and orange, Taylor says you’ll notice more than just later dawns and earlier sunsets.
“Autumn is also a time of dramatic temperature swings, summer wants to hold on, it’s not completely finished with us yet, and of course winter trying to take a grip as well.”
“We’ll still get some warm spells followed by some very cool temperatures as well,” Taylor added.
Speaking of winter, it will officially arrive on Friday, December 21.
